Hey everyone, I recently migrated my website from a small hosting provider to **Namecheap**, mainly because I wanted access to **cPanel**. Everything went smoothly except for one issue: **outgoing emails**. I never had any problems sending emails before, but since moving to Namecheap, I’m now gett…
There is a tremendous amount of noise amongst reviews and guides when looking for hosting, and it is THE most common question we get here. To cut through the noise, and make things simpler, the r/webhosting mod team **curated** providers we’ve personally used and would confidently use again. This gu…
My WooCommerce website contains hundreds of thousands of photos, requiring around 500–1000 GB of storage for images. Instead of finding a 500 GB hosting plan (which would likely have inode limitations), I decided to offload all images to external storage. From what I’ve seen, the cost of image st…

Hi all, I've never come up to this problem so help would be much appreciated. All my current clients were "clean", either they did not have a website, or it was not wp so the switch was easy. Now i have a job to make a new website/webshop for a client and i'm struggling to find suitable solution…
I have some sites on different hosting plans that costs me hundreds per month, so I decided to test a good VPS . It was my first experience with a Linux server, but I already use linux from time to time. My VPS provider offers Plesk at a good price per month but since I'm an enthusiast about open a…
Hey everyone, I’m a designer working with WordPress (Elementor Pro), but I have really limited experience with technical side of things — like site backups, database cleanup, or PHP updates. And most of the advices on plugins for security and backups I actually found here on Reddit. But this situat…
Im a small start up business trying to get a website going and it feels like it’s becoming a nightmare. I don’t really know anything about websites, seo, website building etc. I purchased hosting through blue host which uses word press. It’s not easy to navigate for someone who’s never done it and …
Hi everyone. Background: 1. I sell digital products (PDFs) - WooCommerce - For each product, I upload 6 PDFs. - For each product, I upload 10 product gallery images. - For each product, I create a post with approximately 80 additional images. 2. My store currently weighs 12 GB, which is limiti…

Hi everyone, I work for a small company that needs to build a new website — mainly for information and branding, with no login, user system, or complex backend. Our current plan looks like this: * Design everything internally in Figma * Build the site in Brizy (either Brizy Cloud or Brizy for Wo…
Hey everyone, I’m a small business owner and for the past three years, I’ve been building and managing our car detailing website on Squarespace. I started from scratch and taught myself everything — countless hours on Google, troubleshooting every issue that popped up along the way. But Squarespac…
I have used Backup Buddy (now Solid) forever mostly to keep my own backups. Is it still best practice to keep my own backups outside of my host? I have a GoGeek plan at Siteground so it would be nice to not have to pay for Solid anymore. Also, should I make use of Siteground's security features rath…

Hey guys, my past two/three years was focused in WordPress/WooCommerce projects only (and some iOS/Android development) also. And during this time, I have some clients that are start scaling fast where they have a lot of orders, more than 10k of products, 20gb in media files, etc. I use SiteGround…

I've read on a post in Reddit which I saved but cannot find now that apart from web dev jobs, you earn more from host reselling. I've looked it up and host reselling makes my life easier as well, with some extra profits. I also noticed that this method can be used in several plugins as well. The…
Hi everyone, This is my first time posting here, so apologies if this has been covered a million times before. We've just started a family business here in Australia and have bought a couple of domain names (one from GoDaddy, one from Crazy Domains). We're planning to use the one from Crazy Domain…
Hi. I have a Wordpress blog at Dreamhost. I've had it for a number of years, but I feel like paying for it just isn't worth it anymore. But I'd like to, at the very least, backup the whole thing. Though I'm also considering migrating it to another host (or even a self-hosted solution). What's the e…

VERIFIED PLATFORM RATINGS
Real star ratings and review counts from Trustpilot and G2, not a language guess on a scraped post. Separate from the social feed above.
UNFILTERED SOCIAL PROOF
Most hosting review sites only show curated testimonials. We do the opposite, we scan public social media daily for real, unfiltered opinions about hosting companies. Every mention gets classified and added to the feed.
When you see a host mentioned, click their name to visit their full profile on Hostlist, including HRI, plans, and verified reviews.
We search X, Reddit, Instagram, TikTok and forums daily for hosting mentions
Each mention is tagged as Good, Bad, or Mixed based on language analysis
Mentions are matched to host profiles in our 30,000+ company directory

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Social Noise?
Social Noise is our real-time feed of what people are publicly saying about web hosting companies across X (Twitter), Reddit, Instagram, TikTok, and other social platforms. We surface genuine user opinions, the good, the bad, and the ugly, so you can see unfiltered feedback before choosing a host.
How do you collect these mentions?
We use automated search tools to monitor social media platforms for posts mentioning hosting companies in our directory. Each mention is classified by sentiment (good, bad, or mixed) and linked back to the original post and the host's profile on Hostlist.
How is sentiment determined?
Each mention is read for its overall meaning, not just for negative or positive keywords, and classified as Good (a positive experience or recommendation, even one that mentions a past problem but concludes satisfied), Bad (a genuine complaint or negative experience), or Mixed/Ugly (a nuanced take with real pros and cons). Posts from a host's own account, and promotional or affiliate copy, are excluded entirely rather than scored.
How often is Social Noise updated?
Social Noise is refreshed daily. We scan for new mentions across all monitored platforms every 24 hours and add them to the feed. The page itself revalidates every 2 minutes to show the latest data.
Can I filter by platform or sentiment?
Yes. Use the filter pills at the top to narrow by platform (X, Instagram, TikTok, Other) or sentiment (Good, Bad, Mixed). Filters can be combined to see, for example, only negative mentions on X.
