HOSTING
CHECKER
Enter any website to find out who hosts it. We resolve the domain to its IP address, identify the hosting provider and network behind it, and, when that provider is in our directory, link straight to its HostList profile with its independent HRI score and better-rated alternatives.
What is a Hosting Checker?
A hosting checker is a free tool that finds out who hosts a website. It resolves the domain to its IP address and traces the network that owns it, revealing the hosting provider or CDN behind the site. When that provider is a tracked host, it links to an independent rating and better-rated alternatives.
How does a Hosting Checker work?
- 01We resolve the domain to its live IP address.
- 02The IP is traced to the hosting provider and network that owns it.
- 03If we track that host, we link to its HRI profile and alternatives.
Frequently asked questions
How do you know who hosts a website?
We resolve the domain to the IP address it runs on, then look up the network that owns that IP block through public internet registry (RDAP) data and reverse DNS. That network is the hosting provider or infrastructure company behind the site. Sites behind a CDN like Cloudflare will show the CDN rather than the origin host.
Why does it show Cloudflare or a CDN instead of the host?
When a site sits behind a CDN or proxy, the public IP belongs to the CDN, which is what any hosting checker can see. The CDN hides the origin server by design. The nameserver and DNS records can still hint at the underlying host, which our DNS Checker surfaces.
Can I switch to a better host?
Yes. When we recognise the provider, we show its independent HRI score and link to higher-rated alternatives in the same class. You can also use AI Match to describe your project and get three ranked hosts with the data behind each recommendation.
