Every hosting market we rank gets one 42U rack. The five hosts already on top of that ranking hold the units, 16, 10, 7, 5 and 4, in rank order. Nothing else allocates a unit. There is no bidding, no reserve price and no sponsored seat, so the only way onto this wall is to out-rank the host already standing there.

How the room works
Can a hosting company buy rack space in the Server Room?
No. Units are allocated by rank alone. Sponsorship, featured listings, advertising and arcade play have no effect on the wall, and there is no way to pay for a unit at any price. The page does carry labelled sponsor placements, a panel in the side rail and a band under the room, and a host holding a unit on the wall is excluded from both.
How are rack units allocated?
Each rack is a standard 42U. The five hosts a HostList ranking already places on top hold 16, 10, 7, 5, 4 units in rank order, so the leader is visibly dominant and the fifth seat still shows.
When does the wall change?
Nightly, on the same HRI recompute that drives every ranking on the site. A seat changes hands when the published order changes. A change that reverses the next night is treated as noise and never enters the capture feed.
Which markets get a rack?
A market earns a rack when at least 8 ranked hosts compete in it and its leader scores 70 or better on the HostList Reliability Index. Thin markets where five hosts sit level on a low score would turn over on alphabetical order, which says nothing about hosting.
