HostList is the world's largest independent web hosting directory, tracking 30,514 providers across 60+ countries. Every listing is ranked by HRI, an objective algorithmic score combining trust signals, profile completeness, freshness, and performance data. No company can pay to improve their rank, and we accept no hosting affiliate revenue on rankings.
HRI is a 0 to 100 score made of four equally-weighted components, each worth 25 points: Trust (Google reviews, Trustpilot, G2, verification status), Completeness (how detailed the profile is), Freshness (how recently data was updated), and Performance (uptime and response-time data where available). Hosts can improve their score by claiming and updating their profile, but cannot pay for points.
No. HostList has zero paid placements, zero sponsored rankings, and zero affiliate bias on directory positions. Every score is earned through public data. This makes us different from virtually every other hosting directory, where rankings are influenced by commission payments. We do display Deals from hosts who participate in the program, but those are clearly labelled and never affect score or rank.
HostList currently tracks 30,514 active hosting companies across 60+ countries. The directory includes pure-play web hosts, technology companies that offer hosting as a core service, and design and dev agencies offering hosted solutions to clients. New hosts are added daily by our enrichment pipeline.
