How We Compare Domain Prices
HostList compares publicly advertised domain prices. You register, renew or transfer your domain directly with the provider. HostList doesn't sell domains or take payment for them.
Sources and eligibility
Openprovider prices come from its public non-member extension tables. AI Vikings provides a public catalog and domain quote API; Porkbun provides a public pricing API. Name.com prices use its Core API retail fields. Dynadot prices use its regular account tier, excluding bulk discounts. Atom prices come from the price data published on its TLD price page, excluding coupon codes. Cloudflare prices come from its Registrar API, which quotes the at-cost annual registration and renewal fee for a standard name; it returns no transfer fee, so that column stays empty. GoDaddy prices come from its availability API quote for a standard unregistered name: the first-year price and the renewal price, with no transfer fee returned. Account discounts and private dashboard prices are excluded. Registrars that publish no readable price list, such as OpusDNS, are listed beneath the table rather than given a column.
Terms, fees and currencies
Prices are displayed in USD as published by each source. We don't convert currencies. Where a billing period is supplied, we show the total for that period; where it's missing, we say so. Tax inclusion, additional fees and transfer renewal benefits aren't consistently stated by these sources, so check the provider's checkout before you pay.
Freshness and missing data
Most public sources are cached for one hour; the AI Vikings catalog is cached for five minutes. We hide catalog prices at their source deadline or within 24 hours of retrieval. AI Vikings domain quotes may be cached by the provider for 15 minutes. Expired quotes are labelled as previous quotes needing confirmation and are never treated as a fresh availability check. Dated promotions expire at their cutoff. Failed price refreshes do not replace valid cached prices with an empty list; the original expiry still applies.
Order and commercial links
Providers appear in a fixed order. There is no cheapest-provider badge, because billing periods, eligibility and final fees differ too much to rank fairly. Links go straight to providers, no affiliate tracking attached. This comparison covers eight providers, not the entire domain market.
What this comparison does not cover
The comparison table covers standard domain names. Search can also show exact AI Vikings premium quotes, clearly labelled. A quote does not reserve a domain. Aftermarket purchases, restoration charges, optional services and account discounts are excluded. We don't calculate ownership costs from incomplete billing terms.
