REGISTRARS
ICANN-accredited registrars are authorized to sell generic top-level domains under the Registrar Accreditation Agreement. HostList currently tracks 3,021 accredited entities across 2,990 records using the official IANA registrar IDs and ICANN accredited registrar list. Shared RDAP infrastructure is never treated as proof of common ownership. Owner verified badges confirm profile control, not ICANN accreditation.
VERIFIED OWNER PROFILES
Registrars that claimed ownership and completed their profile checklist. Completeness drives spotlight sort; this is not a paid rank.

DOMAIN REGISTRARS
What is an ICANN-accredited registrar?
An ICANN-accredited registrar is a company authorized by ICANN to register generic top-level domains (gTLDs) like .com, .net, and .org directly with registries. Accreditation requires signing the Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA), meeting financial and technical requirements, and maintaining RDAP/WHOIS services. The official list is maintained by ICANN and IANA.
How many ICANN-accredited registrars are there?
As of the latest sync, IANA lists 3,021 accredited registrar entities. HostList shows 2,990 directory records. Multiple entities are grouped only when HostList has reviewed evidence that they operate under the same public brand.
Where does this registrar list come from?
This independent directory is built from the official IANA registrar-ids CSV and the ICANN accredited registrars directory. Shared RDAP infrastructure is not treated as proof of common ownership. Multi-entity brand groups require a reviewed mapping.
What is the difference between a registrar and a registry?
A registry operates a top-level domain (Verisign for .com, it.com for .it.com). A registrar sells domains to end users and interfaces with registries on their behalf. Some companies hold both accreditations; this page lists ICANN-accredited registrars specifically.
Does HostList rank registrars?
No fabricated percentage scores. Spotlight order reflects profile completeness and verified ownership signals, not advertising. DRI, the Domain Registrar Index (preview), publishes a 0 to 100 score only for registrars that verify ownership, disclose profile facts, and link a real review presence; below that evidence floor no number is shown. HostList does not run affiliate links, and labeled sponsor placements, when offered, do not influence how registrars rank in the directory.
Which registrars also offer web hosting?
Many accredited registrars also sell hosting: Namecheap, GoDaddy, Name.com, IONOS, Hostinger, DreamHost, and Cloudflare are common examples. Identity Digital operates hundreds of gTLD registries and owns Name.com as its retail registrar. Registrar and hosting profiles are separate on HostList; use the Hosting link in the table when a host profile exists.
