RATINGS DISCLAIMER
HOSTLIST.IO is committed to transparency. This page explains how our ratings work, what data we use, and our obligations to listed companies and users.
Last updated: 15 July 2026
Independence
HOSTLIST.IO is an independent platform. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or financially connected to any hosting company listed in our directory. Our ratings, rankings, and editorial content are produced without outside influence.
How HRI™ Is Calculated
HRI™ is a composite rating from 0 to 100, calculated using publicly available data including but not limited to:
- Uptime monitoring and availability records
- Page load speed tests and Time to First Byte (TTFB) benchmarks
- Support response times and channel availability
- Pricing analysis including renewal price transparency
- User reviews from multiple sources (Google, Trustpilot, G2, and direct submissions)
- Company information including years in operation, team size, and data centre locations
The scoring algorithm weighs these factors and produces a single composite score. The methodology is proprietary and may be updated at any time to improve accuracy and fairness.
Accuracy and Limitations
We make every effort to ensure that the information in our directory is accurate, current, and complete. However, we cannot guarantee that all information is current or complete at all times. Hosting companies frequently change their pricing, features, infrastructure, and policies. There may be a delay between when a change occurs and when it is reflected in our directory.
HRI™ is one data point among many you should consider when choosing a hosting provider. We strongly encourage users to conduct their own research, read multiple reviews, and evaluate their specific requirements before making a purchasing decision.
No Pay-for-Rank
HostList does not sell rankings or accept payment for placement in ranked lists. Hosting companies cannot pay to improve HRI or list position. Tool and infrastructure partners are clearly disclosed and have zero influence on scores.
Partner and Referral Links
Every “Visit” and deal link points at the provider’s own site. HostList does not run affiliate or referral links, and no hosting company can buy a position or pay to move a score. One legacy exception is still live, and we would rather disclose it than quietly fix it: the current v2.2 Completeness component awards 2 of 100 points for an affiliate link recorded on a profile, and 12 listings still earn it from a stored value dating from before those links were removed from the site. None of those links are served to readers. HRI v3.0 drops the field when the delayed cutover ships, and the stored values are cleared with it. HRI v2.2 remains current until a new effective date is announced in the methodology changelog. Sponsored display units and featured deal slots are always labeled. See the advertising policy for inventory rules.
Right to List and Review
HOSTLIST.IO reserves the right to list, score, and review any publicly operating web hosting company. Listing in our directory does not require the hosting company's consent, as all information is sourced from publicly available data including official websites, public APIs, review platforms, and published performance benchmarks.
Hosting companies may claim their listing to manage their profile information, but claiming does not grant editorial control over scores, reviews, or ranking position.
Corrections and Disputes
Hosting companies that dispute listing data or scores can email [email protected] (or use the contact form) with the listing URL, the specific error, and supporting evidence. We aim to acknowledge within 5 business days and review within 14 business days. Filing a dispute does not require us to change a score, but we will review good-faith evidence before formal escalation.
Email [email protected] or use the host contact form with:
- The listing or page URL and the specific information you believe is incorrect
- Evidence or documentation supporting the correction (e.g., updated pricing page URL, official uptime report)
- Your name, role, and relationship to the hosting company
We aim to acknowledge within 5 business days and review within 14 business days. Where evidence supports a factual correction, we will update the listing promptly. For score-related enquiries, we will explain the relevant factors but are under no obligation to change any score. Please give us this notice period before escalating formally; full terms are in our Terms of Service.
Opinion and Editorial Content
HRI™ ratings, rankings, comparisons, verdicts, and editorial commentary are statements of opinion, formed in good faith from the data sources and methodology described on this page. They are not assertions of objective fact about any provider, and a different methodology could reasonably reach a different conclusion. Where we state a specific fact, such as a published price or an uptime figure, it is taken from or derived from a source available at the time of writing; such facts can change and may not always be current.
Third-Party Reviews, Trademarks and External Links
User reviews and third-party review data (including Google, Trustpilot, G2, and direct submissions) reflect the views of the people who wrote them, not those of HOSTLIST.IO. We aggregate and display this data but do not adopt or endorse individual reviews and are not responsible for their content.
Company names, logos, and trademarks shown on HOSTLIST.IO are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification and comparison purposes (nominative fair use) only. Their use does not imply any affiliation with, endorsement by, or sponsorship from those companies. HOSTLIST.IO also links to third-party websites for reference; we do not control and are not responsible for the content or practices of any external site.
Limitation of Liability
The information provided on HOSTLIST.IO is for general informational purposes only. HOSTLIST.IO shall not be held liable for any losses, damages, or negative outcomes resulting from decisions made based on information found on this platform, including but not limited to the selection of a hosting provider based on HRI™ ratings.
