I am a dev at a small agency in Australia. We have recently been told by WP Engine that we have to migrate from Flywheel to WP Engine hosting, with no specific reason being given. Here is a excerpt from their email to us: "Flywheel has been part of the WP Engine family for many years, and we’ve pr…

Hi, I’m currently facing a situation where I’m not entirely sure what the best practice would be. I’m completely new to WordPress installations, but I’m fairly tech-savvy. **Scenario:** There is an existing, old WordPress installation running on an old domain, using outdated themes and plugins. …

Ionos emailed this morning to advise they are raising their prices from £9.99 to £13.00 per month. I logged into my control panel to understand the ongoing costs and was greeted with the following: * Marketing to upgrade to 'performance level 4' an additional £6 a month * Scaremongering about vague…
Hi all! My web hosting knowledge is very limited, but was hoping to get some pointers on how to move a full domain/site from one DreamHost account to another. It seems like DreamHost offers a plugin for migration, but all the articles I find are about moving the domain/site from DreamHost to a diffe…

Every year I test a few different web hosts for my WordPress websites. I've been doing this for a while so I've had experiences with a bunch of different providers. I could easily name 10+ WordPress hosts I personally vouch for, but I'll just narrow it down to 2: one from the higher end of the pric…

Someone mentioned this provider in another thread, so I thought I'd give it its own thread. Hawk Host is a Canadian web hosting company and one of the oldest hosts I've known, although I haven't used their services myself. If any Hawk Host users are reading this, please share your review of the se…
I'm running a site for a nonprofit organization on a Dreamhost shared server. The site is run through Cloudflare with good caching, so the pages load pretty fast and the visitor experience is good. However, the backend, the WP admin dashboard, runs super slow--not always, but most of the time. I'…

Hi everyone, I’m a **total beginner** and I’m losing my mind. My site is incredibly slow on mobile and I’m trying to figure out if my hosting/setup is broken. I pay £250/year for **WP Engine** (managed by a designer who is now ghosting me), but the performance is terrible. **The Setup:** * **Theme…

There are only a few European providers of managed WordPress hosting that can be compared to Kinsta, WP Engine, and the likes. One of those I've recently come across is HostPress. This host is based in Germany and they seem to have their own in-house support team. It's not a big host, and their pre…

Hi everyone, I'm running a WordPress site and currently using Cloudflare (free) with their WAF enabled, managed rules (including the WordPress-specific ones), bot fight mode, rate limiting on wp-login.php, etc. It's blocking a ton of bad traffic upfront, and the site performance is great with the …

VERIFIED PLATFORM RATINGS
Real star ratings and review counts from Trustpilot and G2, not a language guess on a scraped post. Separate from the social feed above.
UNFILTERED SOCIAL PROOF
Most hosting review sites only show curated testimonials. We do the opposite, we scan public social media daily for real, unfiltered opinions about hosting companies. Every mention gets classified and added to the feed.
When you see a host mentioned, click their name to visit their full profile on Hostlist, including HRI, plans, and verified reviews.
We search X, Reddit, Instagram, TikTok and forums daily for hosting mentions
Each mention is tagged as Good, Bad, or Mixed based on language analysis
Mentions are matched to host profiles in our 30,000+ company directory

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Social Noise?
Social Noise is our real-time feed of what people are publicly saying about web hosting companies across X (Twitter), Reddit, Instagram, TikTok, and other social platforms. We surface genuine user opinions, the good, the bad, and the ugly, so you can see unfiltered feedback before choosing a host.
How do you collect these mentions?
We use automated search tools to monitor social media platforms for posts mentioning hosting companies in our directory. Each mention is classified by sentiment (good, bad, or mixed) and linked back to the original post and the host's profile on Hostlist.
How is sentiment determined?
Each mention is read for its overall meaning, not just for negative or positive keywords, and classified as Good (a positive experience or recommendation, even one that mentions a past problem but concludes satisfied), Bad (a genuine complaint or negative experience), or Mixed/Ugly (a nuanced take with real pros and cons). Posts from a host's own account, and promotional or affiliate copy, are excluded entirely rather than scored.
How often is Social Noise updated?
Social Noise is refreshed daily. We scan for new mentions across all monitored platforms every 24 hours and add them to the feed. The page itself revalidates every 2 minutes to show the latest data.
Can I filter by platform or sentiment?
Yes. Use the filter pills at the top to narrow by platform (X, Instagram, TikTok, Other) or sentiment (Good, Bad, Mixed). Filters can be combined to see, for example, only negative mentions on X.
