Plesk is a licensed, commercial web-hosting control panel that lets administrators and resellers manage websites, email, databases, DNS and SSL certificates through a single web interface, and it is the only mainstream panel that runs natively on both Linux and Windows servers. Like cPanel, it exposes a file manager, one-click application installers, and reseller-level account controls, but it adds a more developed WordPress Toolkit for staging, cloning and bulk updates, a Docker extension for running containers from the panel, and a broader catalogue of third-party extensions covering backup, security and migration. Because Plesk is licensed per server (commonly priced by the number of managed domains), it rarely saves money over cPanel; the choice usually comes down to interface preference, extension needs, or a hard requirement for Windows-based workloads such as ASP.NET or Microsoft SQL Server, where Plesk is effectively the only mainstream option. Many managed-cloud platforms ship it as the default panel.
