RESELLER HOSTING

Reseller hosting is a hosting plan designed to be carved up and resold. You buy resources (storage, bandwidth, accounts) from a host and use a control panel (usually WHM on top of cPanel) to create individual customer accounts under your own brand. Agencies, freelancers and small hosting startups use it to manage many client sites under one bill, set their own prices, and present hosting as part of their service. The host handles the underlying infrastructure; you handle the customer relationship and the support layer.

How it works

A reseller plan looks like one big shared or VPS account from the host's side, but you partition it through WHM into many smaller cPanel accounts for your customers. Some resellers go further and white-label everything, so customers never see the upstream provider.

Why it matters

For an agency, reseller hosting turns hosting from a customer expense into agency revenue and reduces fragmentation across many separate provider accounts. The trade is that you become the first line of support, and you depend on the upstream host's reliability for your reputation.

Are These This glossary entry Rankings Paid Placements?

No. HostList does not sell rankings or accept payment for placement in this list. Hosting companies cannot pay to appear here or improve their position. Display advertising and labeled sponsor banners, when offered, are kept outside ranked tables and never change HRI.

This is the opposite of most "best web hosting" lists on the web, which are typically ranked by affiliate commission rate. Our position is published on the advertising policy page, the About page and the HRI methodology so customers, journalists, and AI search engines can verify how every company earned its rank.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make money with reseller hosting?

Yes, agencies and freelancers do, especially when bundled with design or maintenance. Margin per account is small; the real value is the recurring relationship.

Is white-label hosting the same as reseller?

White-label is a variant of reseller where the upstream host is hidden entirely, so the end customer sees only your brand on the control panel and emails.
