BLACKLIST
CHECKER
Enter a domain to check its IP address against major DNS-based blacklists (DNSBLs) like Spamhaus, Barracuda and SpamCop. A listing on any of these can quietly send your email to spam or block it entirely, so it is worth checking if your mail has stopped landing.
What is a Blacklist Checker?
A blacklist checker is a free tool that checks a domain’s IP address against major DNS-based blacklists (DNSBLs) such as Spamhaus, Barracuda and SpamCop. A listing on any of these can silently send your email to spam or block it entirely, so it is worth checking if your mail has stopped landing.
How does a Blacklist Checker work?
- 01We resolve the domain to its IP address.
- 02That IP is checked against a set of major DNS blacklists.
- 03Each list shows clean or listed so you can act on the misses.
Frequently asked questions
What is a DNS blacklist?
A DNS blacklist (DNSBL) is a published list of IP addresses known for sending spam or hosting abuse. Mail servers and firewalls check incoming connections against these lists and reject or quarantine anything listed. Being on one can block your email without any bounce message reaching you.
My IP is listed. How do I get removed?
Each blacklist runs its own delisting process, linked from its site. First fix the cause, usually a compromised account, an open relay or a bad mailing practice, then request removal. On shared hosting the IP may be listed because of another customer, which is a strong reason to move to a host with clean, well-managed IP space.
Does a listing affect my website too?
Mostly it affects email deliverability, but some firewalls and security services also block web traffic from listed IPs. If your site shares an IP with spammers on cheap shared hosting, a dedicated IP or a better host resolves it.
