UpCloud is a cloud infrastructure provider headquartered in Helsinki, Finland. It was formed in 2011 as a spin-off from Sigmatic, a Finnish shared web hosting company its founder and chief executive Joel Pihlajamaa had built to more than 20,000 customers before selling it. The company runs 15 data centres in 12 countries across four continents, says most of them run on renewable energy, and positions itself as a European sovereign cloud. Products are cloud servers, GPU servers with NVIDIA hardware from the L4 up to the B300, private cloud on dedicated AMD EPYC nodes, managed Kubernetes, managed MySQL, PostgreSQL and Valkey databases, block and object storage and software-defined networking. Starter cloud servers begin at 3 euros a month for 1 GB of memory and one core, GPU servers at 0.57 euros an hour, managed databases at 9 euros a month and private cloud at 3,190 euros a month. Billing is hourly with fixed prices and no charge for outbound data transfer under a fair transfer policy. Storage uses its own MaxIOPS technology. The stated SLA is 99.99 percent on Starter plans and 99.999 percent on premium servers, databases and private cloud.
