DOMAIN AGE
CHECKER
Enter a domain to find out exactly how old it is. We pull the original registration date from live registry (RDAP) data and calculate the precise age, alongside the expiry date, registrar and current status. Useful for vetting a domain before you buy it, checking a competitor, or assessing a site’s history.
What is a Domain Age Checker?
A domain age checker is a free tool that shows exactly when a domain was first registered and calculates its precise age, alongside the expiry date, registrar and status. It pulls the original registration date from live registry data, useful for vetting a domain before buying it or assessing a site’s history.
How does a Domain Age Checker work?
- 01We query the authoritative registry over RDAP, the modern WHOIS.
- 02The original registration date is extracted from the record.
- 03Age is calculated to the day, with expiry and registrar alongside.
Frequently asked questions
Does domain age matter for SEO?
Age by itself is a weak signal, but what comes with age matters: an older domain has had time to earn links, history and trust. When buying an aged domain, the registration date tells you less than its backlink profile and how it was used, so check both before paying a premium for age alone.
Can a domain’s age be reset?
If a domain fully expires and is deleted, then re-registered, the registry date resets to the new registration, and its history effectively starts over. A transfer between owners or registrars does not reset the original registration date.
Why does the tool show no data for my domain?
A few country-code TLDs do not publish RDAP data, so their registration dates cannot be read this way. Make sure you entered the registrable domain (example.com), not a subdomain or a full URL with a path.
